Let's continue the story.
Camp-Site
The night was long as. During that night I learned that my habit of only sleeping on my side had now become a bad one. I think my sides still hurt to this day.
Cold. I awoke to cold. The cold had seeped into my being. I was the cold, and the cold was me. I'm cold, therefore I am. Conclusion: it was cold.
But the cold was worth it (did I mention the cold?), for the morning revealed our camp-site choice.
Not bad, eh? |
Milford Sound
This is it. This is the heart of the Fjordland; the most beautiful location in New Zealand (in my opinion, but your opinion is wrong).
We didn't stay too long here. Thomas bought a tour (going out into that water there), so the rest of us relaxed and enjoyed the view. Eventually the conversation turned to Milford Sound's winter arrangements. I suggested it would become like The Shining. So then we talked about the differences between the movie and the book. It was nice, simple, relaxing.
Unfortunately, we were on a time-table, so once Thomas returned, we grabbed a quick lunch and headed out.
The Journey to Queenstown
No big deal. Just an awesome lake to look at while we drive |
Queenstown
We arrived at night, and it was starting to get cold. The original plan was to drive through Queenstown and find a camp-site and save money. But it was cold, and the memories starting coming back. I couldn't go back to that place. Not again. So we decided to find a cheap hostel and stay there. Luckily, we found a good deal. After that, we had the night to explore!
When we arrived, there was an X-Games-like event happening with bikes, but it didn't last long, and we were driving at the time. We had to find something else to do.
We immediately got free tickets for a comedy show that wasn't getting much attention. We spent the night trying (halt-heartily) to find it.
An important person. I think his name was Steve |
We also found an underground McDonald's food court area, but I was too busy eating to take pictures. Just imagine a mall food court with Indian food (including Mango Chicken). We never did find that comedy show, but it was nice to see Queenstown.
Our time in South Island was coming to a close. See some of the final sights next time!
